Bitter Lies and Better Lies
Five poems on the lies we like to believe and the truths we don't dare to face
This post has been updated from its original version.1
Five more poems, five more stories.
Each one retelling a moment in time.
I'm still revisiting older pieces, hoping their voices are louder now.
Some of these lines are dialogues spoken in a monologue, some are confessions that never reached their destination.
Now I'm sharing them here — maybe they'll speak to you.
Cryptic sensation
What's this cryptic sensation
which naming would defy?
If I were to call it love,
Would love call it a lie?
What more?
What more can you ask of amazing,
when even amazing isn’t enough?
Romance and sadness
With you,
I want to share the sadness of romance.
With you,
I want to share the romance of sadness.
Let us wonder,
are our tears mad joy or joyful madness?
Your presence
Your presence then:
stretching wide in open places,
like a soft whisper in my ear.
Your absence now:
resounding in empty spaces,
as an echo I can't unhear.
Cursed happy endings
I curse every love story
ending in happiness,
once our final chapter closed
hiding me in darkness.
If one of these lines resonated with you, even for a moment — I’m glad.
Not every poem needs to be a resolution.
Sometimes it’s enough to finally let the thought out and see if anyone else felt it too.
You can find more of my work here and on Instagram, where I’m sharing again.
Thank you for reading.
This collection has been updated to include individual poem titles and enhanced formatting while preserving the emotional essence of each piece, as part of my ongoing commitment to craft refinement and stylistic consistency.
I love that these are the echoes of things we almost said, or maybe did say but too softly. Thanks for sharing these lost voices with us.
This is so so so good and “I'm still revisiting older pieces, hoping their voices are louder now.” Ok wow dude, this is actually so good even the poems you will go somewhere big 👏🏻👏🏻
