well now, you made me feel guilty for all the stacks of books unopened.

I stood on the shore of your words and felt the sea rise beneath my ribs. Every “new beginning” in your poem is a wave that forgets it’s supposed to carry hope and instead just keeps rolling, laughing at our celebrations like saltwater in our eyes. I like your honesty like I like morning light on coffee, quiet but honest, stubborn as tide pulling its own rhythm. I didn’t come away with fireworks, I came away with ocean wind in my hair and a reminder that change isn’t always shiny. Sometimes it’s the slow sea song we walk through barefoot.

Your comments are poetry themselves Belinda!

This hit in that quiet, unsettling way that lingers. I love how you strip the performance off “new beginnings” and name the exhaustion underneath all that forced celebration. The repetition feels intentional like waves that keep coming whether you’re ready or not. There’s a lot of honesty in admitting when change doesn’t feel hopeful, just heavy.✨

I was just in a very cynical mindset 😅
