Synchronicity - I am just working on a piece that has the draft title: Dusk to Dawn examining the spaces between individuals.

I enjoyed this collection of poems and I like your thematic approach to posting poetry. It creates a richer post.

The first poem has stuck with me in its voice, containing so much in well crafted brevity.

Poetrycity! That's such a funny coincidence!

The thematic approach is because I have so many short poems it almost feels like a scam to post some of these on their own 😅

On the bright side though, I get to be more creative about the themes and presentation 😁

And those short poems can be tricky, I'm glad it stuck with you. 😊😌

I am probably biased, but I loved the kaleidoscope metaphor 😌

Beauty in melancholy is my favorite genre, and you nailed ❤️

Thanks!

So happy to know a fellow kaleidoscope enthusiast appreciated that metaphor. 🙂‍↕️

“You fell in love with exquisite corpse

of love through kaleidoscopic glance”

The way you put this line together is amazing. Thank you for sharing these awesome pieces.

Thank you so much!

I appreciate those lines a lot, layered with meaning. 😊

Thanks for reading and commenting. 😁😌

A beautiful collection of poems. I particularly enjoyed your use of contrast and parallelism in the first two. Now, tell me. “Enter Sandman”: are/were you a Metallica fan by any chance??

Thank you for reading and commenting Simon! Always nice to see someone pointing out technical detail in the writing. I love contrast and parallelisms but I try to not overuse them, hahaha. 😂

And I like metal music in general a lot, this collection actually has references to three bands 😅🤭

You caught the Metallica reference. Then "Rude Awakening" is a reference to a Megadeth album and "And Then There was Silence" is a reference to a Blind Guardian song.

I couldn't help myself on this one but I think they fit the theme 😅

Love it! These little Easter eggs are an extra treat for people who spot them.

Yes! That’s the idea!

It’s not even the first time I do it. I have at least two collections named after songs or albums by other bands that I can remember.

It’s one of the most prevalent creative influences in my writing 😊

What refuses to sleep for me? Memory. It waits until the night is silent, then crawls out of the dark to remind me what still hurts…

Carlos M.'s avatar

Memories have a tendency to do that, don't they?

Thank you for reading and commenting AMC, you always make me think further. 😊

You’re welcome!

Beautiful, evocative poems Carlos. You are masterful at building this atmosphere of mystery, wonder and tension through your writing. I liked the final poem in particular, which hit very close to home (made me recall a couple of past failed relationships.) Especially the line "you fell in love with a sweet nightmare, desperately believing it a dream" rang very true.

Thank you for your kind comment Klar. I greatly appreciate your words.

These poems were meant to be cathartic, seems like they did it's job. 😊

These poems linger — in the way night lingers, long after sleep has left the room. There’s something so achingly familiar about the questions that only dare surface in the hush of 3 AM. Thank you for writing the hard things with such raw rhythm. I think so many of us have been held (or haunted) by these very same thoughts. 🤍

Thank you for your tender comment Anna.

That's something I try to do with my poems, bring life to thoughts and feelings I think many of us have experienced but may have trouble putting into words.

I know I've cried listening to a song that mirrored my feelings in their lyrics.

I'm happy to know these poems hit a similar spot. 😊😌
